February 8 & 9, 2020, 10:30am - 4:00pm
Learn one of the oldest textile crafts at this weekend workshop, where you will set up a 4-harness loom and weave your own scarf!
This type of weaving is relevant to different types of loom-weaving. Looms are provided - no experience is necessary! Please note this is a two-day workshop!
Heather Thoma has loved teaching weaving for over 25 years. In 2017 she moved to Northumberland County from Manitoulin Island in northern Ontario, where she lived since 2003, teaching weaving workshops and producing scarves and shawls for local artisan markets. She coordinated and taught in a land-based community arts organization, 4elements Living Arts. Heather enjoys encouraging people to link fibre arts learning with ecological learning and connecting to the places where the materials come from. She is an organic farmer, so her love of the land connects to her weaving work. Heather has co-produced four books which link arts practice with land-based learning.
