These oil works began by creating a formal grid pattern to support the shapes as they appear. From there it became an intuitive process, one of observing and responding to the orientation of these shapes as they begin to jostle for position.
Black circles are a defining force which influence the energy and momentum of the circles and help determine where they choose to migrate. Colour also guides these multilayered conversations. While each is distinct, the interplay of colour is relational and conveys an intricate balance. Trace elements of earlier configurations emerge through the white and reveal the transformative nature of these dynamic shapes over time.
This inquisitive practice of repetition and random intervention is Cynthia's way of understanding the nature of connection and continuum.
