Crafted: the backstory

Last Fall, I pitched a local paper about doing a column that explored craft, process and inspiration by having a local artist show me how to make something, and I would write about it. To my surprise, they let me do it, and two columns were published, a third filed but never published, another researched but not written and yet another in the queue, all before the world started going sideways. Not to my surprise, it was tons of fun and such a treat to learn from some very talented and generous (and patient) people.

Given changes at that paper and uncertainty in uncertain times, I thought I'd bring that little column home to Guildworks and continue to explore it here. Below are links to the 2 that were published; the rest will follow in the next little bit and as we re-enter the world, cautiously and carefully, we'll pick up where we left off, and bring you a unique behind the scenes look at some of Canada's best. It may look a little different until our 'bubbles' expand appropriately, but we'll figure it out.

If you have ideas, suggestions, artists you'd like to learn more about, let me know in the comments. If you're an artist and want to offer yourself up, let me know that too.
