Susan is an Ottawa-based artist whose work in mixed media and encaustics is primarily inspired by colour and its intricate dance with texture and light.

She likes to work intuitively, adding, removing and blending and finds joy in the spontaneity of the work that evolves.

Susan’s art is informed by her surroundings; specifically the rugged beauty of the Ottawa Valley. A career in social work has taught her the importance of the arts in fostering healing and resiliency and she strives to capture the dichotomy between light and dark, melancholy and humor , simplicity and complexity in her paintings.
