Artist Statement

My art merges imagination and memory, drawing on the places, daydreams, and emotions of my life.  This has been the primary source of inspiration for my painting career.

Much of my work attempts to portray a vocabulary of emotions that are the colours and the shapes that end up with their own story.   All of my work involves a conversation between myself, the colours I am working with and the canvas.  Most often these chats take the form of a genteel collegial discussion between two old friends, sometimes a more strained conversation, sometimes one that dips and weaves.  Whatever the form of conversation, the painting almost never ends up as planned.
