Collection: Marianne Chemla
Marianne Chemla has been making functional and non-functional ceramic objects for about 20 years. After graduating from the Centre de Ceramique Bonsecours, in Montreal, she went to Concordia University to complete a BFA. She later spent time in Japan and South Korea to pursue her studies and interest in ceramics, taking various workshops with different master potters.
She works mainly with porcelain, throwing and hand-building pottery and sculptures. She finds much of her inspiration in nature: horizons, geological formations, snow landscapes, stillness, and the natural expression of clay. Her work is sensitive, organic, simple and elegant.
"Much of my inspiration I find in nature: horizons, geological formations, snow landscapes and in stillness. My work explores archetypal themes and celebrates simple everyday pleasures – the small things that are meaningful to us all."
